Alert: Mexico – Cartel roadblocks, clashes with security forces will increase physical safety risks

The confirmed death of Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) leader Nemesio Rubén Oseguera Cervantes (alias ‘El Mencho’) has triggered widespread ‘narcobloqueos’ (roadblocks) and violent clashes across Jalisco and neighbouring states.

Sibylline analysts assess a significantly elevated risk to physical safety and supply chains as cartel members target key highways, airports and military installations. Following flight cancellations at Jalisco’s Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and a US ‘shelter-in-place’ alert across various states, businesses must prepare for immediate transit disruptions and potential spillover volatility along the US-Mexico border.
