Monitoring Emerging Threats to Executives and Public Figures

Report

October 23, 2025

Executives now face a heightened threat from not only physical attacks but also sophisticated cyber campaigns. Companies operating in divisive sectors (such as energy, finance, healthcare and technology) are broadening their risk assessments to include executives and their families.

Multiple attacks targeting US President Donald Trump and the assassination of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City (New York, US) have highlighted the threat of politically and ideologically motivated violence facing business and government leaders.

In 2025, the 10 September assassination of the conservative political commentator Charlie Kirk in Utah (US) further underscored the persistence and escalation of this trend. Hostility fuelled by anti-corporate sentiment, radicalisation and broader socio-political grievances all underpin this phenomenon.

Our latest Executive Protection Special outlines numerous key developments regarding the physical and hybrid threats facing business executives and public officials.
